FAQs

I don’t live in Scotland, Essex or Northern Ireland, why am I not eligible for a funded place at Frontline?

Thanks to the generosity of our funders, we're able to offer some free places in Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Essex. For those based in other areas, we have subsidised the cost of purchasing a ticket to Frontline as much as possible – the amount charged is to help us to cover the costs incurred of running the event, not profit. We remain committed to making our events accessible to all and will continue our efforts to make our events free of charge where possible.

Alongside our workshops, we also have plenty of free resources on offer. POD is our free online learning platform, designed to provide people supporting someone with an eating disorder with a space to learn, share experiences and find community. On the platform you'll find a range of workshops, e-learning modules and forums that will help to equip you with the skills you need to support your loved one. Sign up today.

When will I receive my joining instructions?

You will receive joining instructions to your registered email address around a week before the event is due to start. We will send communications out via email, keep an eye on your inbox, make sure you add us as a trusted sender. You may need to check your junk/spam email folder.

How do I register for the virtual event?

Register by clicking the “Buy tickets now” link on the event website. You will go through the registration process; a confirmation will be sent to your email address.

I need a receipt to claim back the ticket expense from my work place?

Please email the events team, we can provide an invoice receipt which can be used to claim expenses from your place of work. Our email is events@beateatingdisorders.org.uk

I have purchased a ticket but haven’t received any communications from you.

On occasion our email correspondence can be swept into your junk folder. Please check the folder and add us as a trusted sender. You should receive correspondence from us directly into your email inbox.

Do I have to attend the entire event?

You do not need to attend the entire event; many say that attending the event in its entirety will help you to get the most out of the experience.

The content will be available on-demand for one month after the event finishes for all registered participants. You will need to register in advance to view all the content at your own pace.

Will I be able to see the presenters for each session?

Yes. You will be able to see keynote speakers, panellists and lived experience volunteers along with any presentations.

How do I ask questions during the sessions?

We encourage you to ask questions at any time during the session. Use the Q&A area, located on the upper right-hand side of the screen. These questions are then displayed to the session presenters for response during the session or afterwards, as a follow-up.

Can I access and view recordings or any presentations from the event?

Your virtual event registration includes access to all recordings after the event concludes. You can view any sessions you missed as soon as the recordings for those sessions are made available. All recorded sessions will be available for you to access at no additional charge for one month after the event finishes.

What if I am not available on the virtual event date?

The content will be available on-demand for one month after the workshop concludes for all registered participants. If you are unable to attend the live event you will still need to register in advance and view all the content at your own pace.

What do I need to access the virtual event?

For the best experience, we suggest a good Internet connection and using a desktop or laptop computer. You can also access the event on your mobile device such as an iPad.

Can I access this event with a government computer?

Different agencies have different security measures. Most can access via their government computer on a non-government network. Depending on your firewall you may not be able to access through a government network. We recommend viewing the event on a non-government network.

Do I need to have a webcam for the event?

You do not need a webcam to attend virtual events.

I am on the event platform and my screen is frozen, what do I do?

Try refreshing your browser if you continue to experience difficulties click on the online platform support tab which is on the menu on left hand side of the platform. Alternatively can get in touch with the Beat events team via email events@beateatingdisorders.org.uk or telephone 01603 753310.

Why can’t the workshop be covered by donations?

Unfortunately, the donations we receive are applied to other work like our helpline and our campaigning meaning we do not have the funds available to allow us to make this event a free-of-charge event. The cost charged enables us to cover the costs incurred in running them and we do not profit from the workshops. We are looking for funding to make them free of charge but have so far not been able to find a willing funder. We will however have some free events coming up throughout the year - please keep an eye out for updates on our socials.

Why are you charging a late admin fee?

After ticket sales close for a virtual event, we have to charge a late administration fee to access to the workshop recording. This fee covers the costs incurred by Beat to facilitate access to the on-demand content after this date.

What is the cancellation policy?

Please find Beat’s virtual event terms and conditions here: https://workshops.beateatingdisorders.org.uk/beats-virtual-events-terms-and-conditions/
